What labels are you wearing?

Labels. We wear them, we hide them, we display them, we allow them to define who it is we are. We feel lost when we lose one...

God has been talking to me a lot about labels lately and the ones put on me that I chose to wear, even unconsciencely.

I grew up without my father, like so many people today. He didn't want to be a dad and ran from the responsibility. I met him as a teenager but after 2 years he again didn't want that role, at least not in my life anyway. I had a stepfather but as a daughter he also rejected me. The label that put on me was unloved.

It was a lie I believed at a subconscious level for a long time. Not even aware how I would allow that label to affect all the relationships around me. I put up a lot of walls and would not allow people to be close to me or have a very genuine relationship with me because I saw myself as unloved, and therefore unlovable.

I also struggled with seeing value in my gifts. The world around me values highly organized people, strong in administration. The world around me values money and things and finds worth in these things. I however; am a dreamer. I struggle with organization, it's not something that had ever been a natural tendency for me no matter how hard I tried. My heart, my motivation has always been centered on people and relationship.

I still hear the criticism and judgement echo through my ears, people that want to go into social work or those fields are just messed up people themselves.

My heart and my worth felt attacked and I wore the label not good enough.

I didn't fit into what the world around me deemed as worthy, or of value.

It's ok to have a creative hobby, just know you will never go anywhere and get a practical job...

How ingrained was that lie? I denied so much of myself to desperately try to be that square peg that could fit a round hole.

So here is God, and He is telling me first let's acknowledge what those labels are, now let's start to let them go.

I was given a beautiful image of a small girl dancing through a meadow chasing a butterfly. She squeeled in delight, and there was joy in just watching her.

God impressed upon me how chasing that butterfly would give her a different journey than anyone else, that there was such beauty in her innocence. He also showed me that she could see things others couldn't and what an amazing gift that is.

No my gifting is not administration, I am not by nature a highly organized individual. I am however; creative. I see beauty in people and places where others may be inclined to walk on by. I see gifts in other people and my perspective is usually different from those around me. I lean more towards visionary. I question why things are done a certain way and am open to new experiences.

I spent years in management working so desperately to develop administrative skills and that label of what I did for a living was pealed off. The thing is I would go home and be so worn out from trying to fit somewhere that perhaps I never really belonged. I constantly felt like a failure, I couldn't understand how it seemed like everyone around me could keep it so together. Perhaps it was just that we had different giftings?

There are expectations in life I felt I needed to live up to though. At a certain point I should be at a certain level making at least a certain amount of money. I should be driving a certain car and living in a certain kind of home.

I allowed others opinions drive what I did. I refused to allow myself creative outlets, and if I secretly was using any kind of artistic expression, I hid it.

God is creative. He is the original creator, so why oh why would I want to hide something so valuable or refuse to grow in any gifts given to me by God?

My current journey is down a path as a photographer, and I am pretty darn good at it! No one knows about this blog yet but I do hope to develop my writing skills more if that is Gods will, and I  taking up painting! It turns out I can support my family doing something creative afterall.

The real question is am I willing to turn to God for all my needs? Do I trust Him to guide and care for me? Do I have a bold enough faith to walk where He leads?

God wants nothing more than for me to be that child running through the meadow chasing a butterfly that only I can see, delighting in the Creators gifts to me. Trusting that He will guide and protect me.

DL Moody summarized Moses life by saying, Moses spent 40 years learning something, 40 years learning to be nothing, and his final 40 years proving God to be everything. I figure I'm not quite 40 yet so it's ok I'm not done learning yet. God still has a place and a plan for me, you too!

*while I don't expect there are many readers out there, if there are do you want to share what some of your labels are/were and how are you overcoming them?

End Times Prophecy and the Sky

Let me start this with Mark 13:32

But of that day and [that] hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

I am not here to make any predictions or set any dates. I am not going to stand raving it's the end of the world as we know it, repent or suffer the wrath of the Almighty.

(though really we should repent of our sinful nature because really God has soooooo much love for you and so many blessings for each one, but our sin separates us from Him. The only way to be reconciled to the Father is through the Son Jesus! A free gift, because lets be honest nothing you could ever do would be good enough to buy it)

We are also told that there would be signs that we could look for to know the end of days is close at hand. Hanging out in Matthew 24 will give you a lot of insight if you aren't yet familiar with the prophecies.

Jesus speaks of famines, pestilence and wars, how nation will rise against nation. These are the beginning of sorrow. It speaks of a day where man will be lovers of money more than lovers of God....

It breaks my heart but I see that as a truth in the church today. Do you ever listen to this prosperity message? Does the bible not say you will have trouble? Does the text not read that the poor will always be with you? Is not my God more concerned with my spiritual prosperity than my bank account? Did the apostles not depend solely on God's provision for the day? Much like collecting manna while the Israelites walked through the desert, they were only to take enough for the day anything else would spoil.

I tell you then read 2 Timothy 3:1-4, do you see how this relates to today? What about 1 Timothy 4:1

Matthew 24:9 I hate to say is coming to fulfillment in other parts of the world and I am afraid it's not far off here... May God gives us all strength to endure to the end.

Joel 2:28-32 tells us

The Lord Will Pour Out His Spirit “And it shall come to pass afterward,    that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh;your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,    your old men shall dream dreams,    and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants    in those days I will pour out my Spirit.30 “And I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. 32 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape, as the Lord has said, and among the survivors shall be those whom the Lord calls.
And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves,26 people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

And Luke 21:25-28

Here is one of the great things about God, He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The bible tells us He is so unchanging not even His shadow moves! The bible is this amazing and wonderful blueprint for what has happened and what is to come. All through the old testament we see shadows of events to come to show us and prepare us and introduce us to Jesus and the plan for salvation. So since God is unchanging there are clues to future events for us as well.

Baring that in mind, have we seen God use the sky to communicate with His people? (please note I am not in any way condoning astrology, be careful what spirits you may be listening to!)  Hmmmm... perhaps Matthew 2:2 comes to mind?  “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

So the wise men were directed to seek out the King of the Jews based on signs in the heavens. We are also told repeated by Jesus Himself that there would be signs at the end of the age.

All this to say... there are signs in the skies.

If you haven't followed this or heard about it yet this year we have entered into a 4 blood moon cycle with 2 full solar eclipses. While I could sit and write about this, I don't necessarily need to restate what others have already spoken. Please watch this video for more detail! I like how this guy is able to say simply and efficiently what I want to tell you in a relatively timely manner.

I'm not going to sit here and say this is it. Beware of anyone who thinks they know a day or time. I am saying there is historical reference to these specific signs, and something is going on. Perhaps during this time we will see the beginning of the rebuilding of the temple? It's a good time to be spending time in Gods living word and studying what is to come. Be sober and vigilant, watch for the signs, they are there! Beware the one who will speak of peace and enter into a peace treaty with Israel for 7 years. Please lean into God and ask Him to reveal more to you!

Work & Faith

It may never cease to amaze me how people are so able to compartmentalize their lives. This
section we call work, this section is family, this section is friends, faith is that little box over in the corner. Maybe it's the box that just comes out on Sunday, or perhaps just for major holidays.

The reality is God Himself has told us, "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." I Corinthians 10:31

Hmmmmm... All to the glory of God, in all things. So to me it sounds like I need to be honouring first and foremost to God in my relationships, in my work, in everything. So faith can't just be that little box over in the corner then can it?

What else does the bible tell us about work? Lets have a look together.

Colossians 3:23

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,

2 Thessalonians 3:10

For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.
A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.

In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.

Proverbs 16:3

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 ESV / 121 helpful votes

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.

I really could go on and on and on on this. The bible is very clear on this topic. Essentially it boils down to this, work hard and do it unto God and you will reap the blessings.

I can hear the arguments already, I know it's not easy especially when you work in an environment that seems so based on worldly views. The thing is God doesn't waste our experiences. It's always an opportunity to shine for Him.

My current workplace is a good example of this. When i started I found some very questionable business practices, ones that I would consider 100% unethical if not at least borderline illegal. Stressful doesn't begin to describe the feelings I experienced. I knew what the right thing was but I also knew that without a paycheque it would be questionable if I would be able to feed my children. I needed to have faith. I needed to trust God and place my future and all my concerns in His hands. Praise God He is always faithful. I stood firm and things have been changing. I know this job isn't somewhere I will stay for a long time, that it is a stepping stone, a means of provision for the interim while I wait for God to tell me it's time to move. While I am there though I can do everything I can to be pleasing to God. It's amazing because I have always found that even if you are working in a secular environment if your heart is with God opportunities will never cease to abound to share Him with others.

I recently was told about a business that seems to have a model that is doing it right. It's about helping one another in humility in order to grow. The concepts seem so foreign to what our North American culture is used to, but refreshing at the same time. Let me share their company motto with you.

That looks pretty good to me. It helps too that I happen to like the products... I don't know right now if this is an area I am feeling called to pursue, but I am praying about it. I respect the values it is based on, and when I look at these health products I see ways of sharing the gospel too. I do not see it as a get rich quick scheme, because I think that in and of itself would show it to be of secular belief and not Christian. It's about balance, which is something that I value, and hope you do as well.

***I did not receive any compensation for this. While I am currently using products from Atomy I am not being paid. That being said if someone is interested in more information I will be happy to help you.

Isaiah 43

Israel's Only Savior

43 But now thus says the Lord,
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
    and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
I give Egypt as your ransom,
Cush and Seba in exchange for you.
Because you are precious in my eyes,
and honored, and I love you,
I give men in return for you,
peoples in exchange for your life.
Fear not, for I am with you;
I will bring your offspring from the east,
and from the west I will gather you.
I will say to the north, Give up,
    and to the south, Do not withhold;
bring my sons from afar
and my daughters from the end of the earth,
everyone who is called by my name,
whom I created for my glory,
    whom I formed and made.”

As I was sitting and reading this passage from Isaiah 43 today a few different things really struck me. First is how loved each one of us is. God loves His creation, He loves us and He calls to each of us where we are.

The other thing that stood out to me is that God is with us in the fire and when we feel like we are drowning. So often we hear words of prosperity spoken, as if our own actions and faith will bring great physical reward. As if professing faith will keep us from all harm, or challenges in life.

Quite to the contrary we are told in this life we will have trouble. We are told we will suffer for His name sake. We are never told we get avoid the hard stuff. In fact it's the hard stuff in life that acts as the refiners fire, an opportunity to grow faith and deepen your relationship Christ.

What we see in Isaiah 43 is that our God is with us through it all. He will not allow you to drown in deep water, or be swept away by the current. You may stand in a fire, but you will not be consumed.

Maybe today you feel the current in your life, feeling as if you could be swept away at any moment. Take comfort in His word to you. Be still and know He is God. He will not abandon or forsake you. God knows all your needs and desires and He will provide for you in your weakness.

Prayer

Why pray? Well, we talk to God because we have a relationship with Him, and relationships include
sharing. God wants to pursue a relationship with us, and we should desire to pursue a relationship with Him too.

Let me ask you this, have you ever had someone who was a friend but then only called when they needed something? What kind of friend is that? What happened to your relationship with that person?

Just think about what the bible says here:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Pretty big stuff eh? Well maybe not at first but if you stop, and I mean full. on. stop. Consider the words. Think about the implications. Follow through with it. This is life changing.

You don't need to be anxious, nervous, afraid, uneasy, restless, stressed, concerned, apprehensive, distressed or anything like that. Ever. Why do you think that is? I know this may be hard for some to hear and there will be those of you who don't agree or understand where I am coming from here. I am going to tell you though it is because God cares about you. He loves you and yes wants the best for you. God knows your every need, and even more so He knows your every desire. God wants only good things for you. And He wants to talk to you!

(I think someone just read that and felt really angry. I know shitty crappy things happen everyday and suffering seems to abound more than anything. We have all been tremendously hurt, and while that was not God's will for your life I promise He can make beauty from ashes. send me a message and I will be happy to talk it out with you)

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Did you see that? You are more valuable. God sees you, and He knows. He knows everything about you, including what you need, and guess what He still loves you. (Even if you aren't perfect! He loves you where you are today, right now in this moment) God loves you so much that He wants to give you what you need and even more... He wants to give you what you desire.

(Here is where I throw in my thoughts about how as parents we know our kids desire candy for dinner, and while we want to give our kids things they want we also give them what they need, like veggies)

If God knows what we need and desire, why pray? What's up with that whole part of it?

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.' "For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’” And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

I apologize for all my tangents here but it strikes me that someone is sitting there asking how I could possibly know that God loves them so to pause for a second I just need to share this first.

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd laydown his life for the sheep.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

I know God loves you because God is love. Love is sacrificial and beautiful, and there is nothing that could ever prevent God from loving you. God wants nothing more than to be reconciled to you, to be in relationship with you...

Really that brings us back to the initial thing I was writing about! By prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

It seems to me God wants to hear from you. We live in this crazy instant gratification society where if things don't happen with a snap of our fingers we tend to give up. Here's the thing, in the waiting we get to build character. More over in the suffering, we get to build character.

Let me say that again so you don't miss that. In the waiting, and in the suffering, you build character.

It is often in times of distress, such as was the case of the widow we read about, that we have the opportunity to draw close to God and for faith to be built up. We learn to trust in God, and in His faithfulness.

God loves you and He is pursuing you. That being said He is a gentleman and has given you the gift of free will. God loves you so much that He won't force you to come to Him, but rather just extends an invitation and waits for you to respond. Why not send up a prayer, I know He wants to hear from you.

Want to know more? If you have any questions about what I wrote today or are curious about how to respond to God's invitation to you please feel free to message me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.  All quotes were from the New Living Translation of the bible and included Philippians 4:6, Mathew 6 :25-34, 1 John 3:16, John 10:11, John 3:16, John 13:34-35.

Prayer, Gifts, and Focus

This past week three things have been laid heavily on my heart. I had
considered writing about each separately; however I believe that it is important for all of them to remain together. Please be\are with me as I go through them. I pray the Holy Spirit will help me to convey this to you and that you will have ears to hear.

The first is prayer. While I hope that any reader knows the importance of prayer in their own lives, and that daily you remember to spend time with God, in this instance I am talking about with others. I found God placing on my heart the need for a prayer circle. A group of Christians who can stand together and remember one another before the throne. We are called to be in community, our God is a relational God and we are to follow His great example. Spiritual battles are won and lost on our knees, I think of Exodus 17:11 as an example.

So it came about when Moses held his hand up, that Israel prevailed, and when he let his hand down, Amalek prevailed.

Remember your brothers and sisters in prayer. Lift them before the throne room of heaven. Come together for prayer, be encouraged and strengthened.

I think at the end of our lives when we come to realize how much power there really is in prayer that one big regret will be that we didn't pray enough.

Second, it was impressed upon me the story of the talents, and how it relates to our spiritual gifts.

Matthew 25:14-30New American Standard Bible (NASB)Parable of the Talents14 For it is just like a man about to go on a journey, who called his own slaves and entrusted his possessions to them. 15 To one he gave five [a]talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he went on his journey. 16 Immediately the one who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and gained five more talents. 17 In the same manner the one who had received the two talents gained two more.18 But he who received the one talent went away, and dug a hole in the ground and hid his[b]master’s money.19 “Now after a long time the master of those slaves *came and *settled accounts with them. 20 The one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying, ‘Master, you entrusted five talents to me. See, I have gained five more talents.’21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your [c]master.’22 “Also the one who had received the two talents came up and said, ‘Master, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more talents.’ 23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’24 “And the one also who had received the one talent came up and said, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you scattered noseed. 25 And I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.’26 “But his master answered and said to him, ‘You wicked, lazy slave, you knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I scattered no seed. 27 Then you ought to have put my money [d]in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest. 28 Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.’29 For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. 30 Throw out the worthless slave into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

We who believe have been given great and extraordinary gifts by the Holy Spirit. Yet when I look around in the church I don't see them being used. I grieve this, so I can only imagine how our Creator must feel knowing He gave us such special talents that we don't recognize or know how to use. We fail to see how our gifts fit in, or where we belong. Yet we are told in 1 Cor 12:12 that we are all one body made of different parts (paraphrased) So wouldn't it stand to reason we all have a part to play with our specific gifts? Should we not stand up and use those gifts?

No longer hide your gifting church! Stand up, help on another to first recognize their gifting for it is apparent many do not even know what gift they have, and then work together to develop your gifting! God has called each and every one of you to something great. Stand now in the power of the Lamb as you were intended to do from the beginning. Speak boldly! Allow your prophets to speak and your healers to heal. For too long these gifts have been viewed with such skepticism and fear, but I say to you no longer. God is moving through His church and we need to not get in His way but welcome Him. Stand in faith.

1 Corinthians 12New American Standard Bible (NASB)The Use of Spiritual Gifts12 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware. You know that when you were pagans, you were led astray to the mute idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking [a]by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is[b]accursed”; and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except [c]by the Holy Spirit. Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith [d]by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of [e]healing [f]by the one Spirit, 10 and to another the [g]effecting of[h]miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the [i]distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.12 For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For [j]by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.14 For the body is not one member, but many. 15 If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason [k]any the less a part of the body.16 And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason [l]any the less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. 19 If they were all one member, where would the body be? 20 But now there are many members, but one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; or again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, [m]it is much truer that the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary; 23 and those members of the body which we [n]deem less honorable, [o]on these we bestow more abundant honor, and our less presentable members become much more presentable, 24 whereas our more presentable members have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked, 25 so that there may be no [p]division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is [q]honored, all the members rejoice with it.27 Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it. 28 And God has [r]appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then [s]miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues. 29 All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of[t]miracles, are they? 30 All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? 31 But earnestly desire the greater gifts.

Third, It was impressed upon me to focus solely on Jesus. Lets take a look at Mathew 14 for this. So imagine Jesus and the apostles have had a pretty long day. So Jesus sent his apostles in a boat ahead of him to get some r&r. Only there is this huge storm, so big in fact that these apostles who have spent their lives as fisher men and on the water are afraid they are going to die. Those have got to be some pretty big waves to scare this crew. Then all of a sudden along comes Jesus walking on the water!

Matthew 14:22-33
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Jesus Walks on the Water22 Immediately He [a]made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the crowds away. 23 After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone. 24 But the boat was already [b]a long distance from the land, [c]battered by the waves; for the wind was[d]contrary. 25 And in the [e]fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea.26 When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out [f]in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”28 Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, You of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 When they got into the boat, the wind stopped. 33 And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are certainly God’s Son!”

So Peter essentially gets to do something no other person gets to do. He is out there walking on water. Until that is, reality sets in and he focuses on his circumstances instead of Jesus.

Jesus wants you to focus on Him. Stop looking around and trying to control your world, this isn't real. Real is eternity, it's spiritual. This physical life is just for a moment. We are told time and time again anything is possible through Christ. We can move mountains and send them crumbling to the sea if we believe and have faith like that of a child. We are told 366 times through scripture to not fear. We don't have to fear because God loves each of us and He knows our needs.

Just focus on Christ. Through Him you will do great things.
